Welcome to LEO III !

LEO III continues the cooperation with children in Benjamin Brittens “Noahs Flood”, a piece of musical theatre, half opera, half oratory. Most of the roles will be sung by children. St. Church will provide the suitable ambiente.

Our interest in putting music into context with different areas of cultural life encourages us to combine the world of fashion ,some significant technical innovations of last century and music. It is not only a concert and fashion show, it is cabaret and theatre as well! Models will be students of Polytechnic. Music by Georges Antheil, the enfant terrible of the 1920s, Steve Reich, Cage and Elgar and surprises. Should be great fun! “Watch and Listen”!

The Leopoldinum Orchestra presents its fantastic stylish versatility in a program “The Art of Fugue”, describing the breathtaking development of Fugue composition during the last three centurys. “Prelude and Fugue” by Wroclaw born pianist and composer Moskowsky will be one of the highlights in the program. In the middle of this program we have the privilege to premiere Gracyna Pstrokonska - Navratils new work for strings and harp.

And finally: “Ensembles”. The quality of a chamberorchestra playing has a lot to do with mutual understanding between all musicians. This understanding can be achieved by encouraging ensemble players to make music in different smaller groups. The leader of Leopoldinum, Christian Danowicz has formed a stringtrio with soloviolist Michal Micker and solocellist Marcin Misiak. They will play in the first part of the program. And there are two stringoctets – “Leoctets”, one of which will play Max Bruchs “Octet“ from 1920
